ASML Lithography
ASML is a Dutch company the produces Lithography machines to be shipped worldwide. These machines are used to make so called “wafers” which are processed into microchips. ASML controls a technology that allows it to make the smallest microchips in the world.
Inventory adjustments
ASML has a requirement to have a strong base for the inventory adjustments (financial write-off of stock) that are reported quarterly. Previously, the inventory evaluation took place in an uncontrolled environment, causing concern by the internal controls department.
ASML decided that the stock excess and -obsolesce qualification used for financial reporting would be the same as the one which is used by logistics execution. This logic would need to be embedded in a controlled environment: SAP BW.
A solution was developed reading data from HANA Enterprise, SAP ECC, SAP APO and control-files.
SAP BW 7.4, Tibco Spotfire
The BW system would be used for applying complex bucketing logic by which stock would be qualified “Normative” or “At risk” (in 12-lower level buckets).
The solution was developed in SAP BW 7.4 using Eclipse BW tools and SAP GUI. The output was consumed by Tibco Spotfire as External SAP HANA view (on database level).
